Respectful Relationships
In response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence, Our Lady Star of the Sea school is committed to promoting and embedding Respectful Relationships and gender equality into our school’s ethos, vision and values. In our school the focus is on treating everyone with respect and dignity in the hope of creating real and lasting change in the lives of our students, staff, families and the wider school community.
Positive Behaviours for Learning are explicitly taught through a focus on values encompassing our Catholic faith. These values are be respectful, be safe, be my best.
The best relationships are respectful relationships.
Our Lady Star of the Sea has been a lead school in Respectful Relationships from 2018. We have truly valued the support and professional learning provided by Barwon RR with a clear audit process initially, reflecting on our current policies, procedures and practices. With our Vision statement at the forefront, we developed a clear action plan which enabled a whole school approach, bringing the entire learning community on board from the beginning. Our continued journey sees us embedding great practice and learning within our community, all the while educating and supporting our students to develop safe, healthy and respectful relationships , celebrating the fact that the best relationships are respectful relationships.
