Dear Lord,
As we begin this spring term, we thank You for the promise of new life and the hope that comes with the changing seasons.
Just as the world outside is renewed, we pray for a renewal of spirit and purpose within our school community.
Bless our students with curiosity and a love for learning.
Help them to grow in knowledge and in character.
Bless our teachers with patience and wisdom.
May their efforts plant seeds of understanding that will blossom for years to come.
Bless our staff with strength and dedication.
Thank you for their tireless work that makes this a safe and nurturing place for all.
May our school be a place of growth, light, peace and joy this term.
Amen.
Dear Parents and Carers
I trust that the holiday period for you all went well and you all are feeling refreshed and energised.
I have the incredible fortune of currently being on a brief Principal Pilgrimage in Rome, Loreto and Assisi for 9 days. The professional learning program is providing me with the opportunity to encounter, engage and embark on a leadership journey underpinned by our Catholic Faith. I am immersed in a rich learning environment centred on the stories of our catholic faith. This incredible opportunity is not lost on me particularly after only just experiencing my first Europe trip earlier this year. Feeling very blessed. I will be returning at the end of the second week and look forward to seeing you at our Arts Trail next Thursday 16 October. Planning is well underway and we are very excited by this event. Many thanks to Rachael Thomas and her team.
During my absence, Paul Anderson will be Acting Principal with Rebecca Nancarrow and Corey Gallagher as Acting DP's in the first week. Marianne Caddy will be Acting Deputy Principal in the second week.
I thank these school leaders in advance for ensuring a wonderful start to term four.
Principal for the day: Many thanks to Ruby Prout for a great job as principal for the day last term and her deputy principal Gemma Geerings.
We ended the term with some beautiful football day celebrations and we raised $435 for the Opening Doors Foundation. Many thanks to you all for these contributions.
MISSION FETE
A highlight of Term 4 is always our Mission Fete. The Catholic Church calendar celebrates Mission Week every year. Traditionally Catholic schools, including Our Lady Star of the Sea, have supported the work of the Catholic Missions through fundraising. This money has assisted initiatives in the poorest communities throughout the world.
At Star of the Sea we have been supporting the community of Bulbula in Ethiopia for over ten years. This came about through a former student, who was adopted from Ethiopia and was able to share with us the plight of this community. We work closely with Sr Abeba in Bulbula, to ensure the money we raise at Mission Fete assists the greatest number of people.
We also use money raised to support local groups, such as our Vinnie’s Christmas Hampers.
Our Mission Fete will take place on Friday 7 November.
This day includes:
- Liturgy
- Social justice activities
- Sausage sizzle
- Mission Fete
- Raffle
Please stay tuned for more information via the newsletter and Hub News in coming weeks.
Basketball Win: Congratulations to our Year 6 students who won the Bellarine Divisional basketball in the last week. They will go on to the next stage. Amazing effort!
Bike riders: Please have continued safety chats with your children. We are aware from last term that many Star of the Sea students are not being safe at all times when riding. Particularly those accessing via the top gate through the swimming pool entrance. Please discuss with your children the importance of walking their bikes through here and being mindful of all traffic, including pedestrians. We are also having ongoing safety conversations at school.
Wishing you a fun and creative fortnight ahead.

Health & Human Development - Year 4 & 5
Our annual Health and Human development sessions will be offered to our Year 4 & Year 5 students and their families later this month.
The Year 4 sessions will be held on Tuesday October 28, starting at either 5:15pm or 6:30pm. During the Year 4 session, parent/carer and child will watch the short film A New Baby, which focuses on pregnancy and birth.
The Year 5 sessions will be held on Wednesday October 29, starting at either 5pm or 6:30pm. This special session is part of the Wonder of Living program and aims to support open and meaningful discussions between parents and children around human development and growing up. During the evening, parent/carer and child will view two short videos from the Wonder of Living series:
- “And Now There's Me”
- “I'm Stepping Out”
These videos explore:
- How a baby begins and the wonder of the human body
- The physical and emotional changes of puberty
- Navigating change and building emotional resilience
- Identifying and responding to unhealthy social media pressures
- The importance of seeking support from trusted adults
- Making safe and informed choices
At both sessions there will be time set aside for parent–child discussion.
While the session won’t cover all aspects of human development, it provides a safe and supportive space to engage in these important conversations in a way that’s age-appropriate and meaningful for your family.
Please refer to the Operoo invitation that helps us plan for these important sessions.
Warm regards,
Paul Anderson

Students need to wear their school hat from 1st September. Please ensure your child’s hat is in good condition and named, we do not have spare hats for them to wear.
Hats are available to purchase from Bellarine Uniforms, Moorabool Street, Geelong.
Greeting Parents
A heartfelt thank you for supporting my takeover at the canteen.
Quite a number of parents have taken on my offer of family meals and have eaten the same as what the students get in their lunch orders. This is much appreciated as some of you know what your children are eating when ordering hot meals.
There have been a couple of changes on the canteen menu so please read on to ensure you know what they are and what to do
- Soup has been taken off menu as this is a winter item. Will be back wintertime in 2026
- Baked Potatoes will remain on menu for the time being as this has proved to be a popular lunch item
- Sushi is back on menu. Our Sushi is provided by Big Crunch Sushi, and we have a required number we need to order. It would be much appreciated if Sushi was supported.
- I am offering Sushi for Thursday and Friday, however ordering for either day needs to be completed on a Wednesday before 10.30am.
In the notes section please identify if the order is for Thursday Lunch or Friday lunch. If no note provided child will receive Sushi for Thursday Lunch
We have noticed parents ordering ‘fresh fruit’ but not choosing what fruit they would like to order. Please note that selecting fresh fruit does not charge you until you pick the fruit you need. This means that we will not be providing fruit if you only choose ‘fresh fruit’.
Please also take care when ordering that the correct date for the lunch order is selected, and the correct amount ie Party Pies x 2 means the order is for 2 party pies,
If you need to contact me during school hours please do so to my phone on 0408704440, I do not check emails until late afternoon and if you have any changes or updates to your order I will not get the note till afternoon.
