God of love,
During this final week before Holy Week where we come together for Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday
Help us continue to take the actions of praying, fasting and almsgiving
You care for us and all in our global family. You want for us all life in its fullness. Help us see the challenges faced by so many. Help us look for justice.
Fill our hearts with love. Turn our compassion to action.
Help us renew the world, now and for all future generations.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
All: Amen
Dear Parents and Carers
This is the final newsletter for Term 1 and what a wonderful term it has been. It has certainly flown by. Your children are to be commended on the way they have embraced this term and engaged in the wonderful learning opportunities. Hopefully you have enjoyed the Term 1 journey and taken the opportunity to have learning conversations with your child via SeeSaw posts, Hub News and Google Classroom. These platforms further enable these valuable conversations. Be sure to look out for more as the term comes to an end showcasing more of the learning. Research shows, by having these conversations, you can increase your child's learning outcomes.
We have seen various extra curricula activities including incursions, excursions, swimming, visits to the elderly home and various other sporting events. Friday’s Cross Country was wonderful. Please refer to your Hub News for some great photos of the day. A huge thank you to Sam Scott, our Sports Leader, who did an amazing job of organising such a successful, whole school event and the staff and parent helpers. Congratulations to the Boyd team for winning overall by 1 point.
Holy Week Celebrations: In the final week of term, hubs will be reflecting on the Holy week events of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday and having their own level liturgy times. They are having a special reflection walk in classes with the Indigenous Perspectives version of the Stations of the Cross on Wednesday and Thursday. Easter Sunday will be celebrated on our return.
ANZAC Day March: We have been invited by Ocean Grove Barwon Heads RSL to take part in the ANZAC Day March at Ocean Grove Cenotaph in the Ocean Grove Park. Students from across the school will be invited to take part in the march and the Wreath Laying Ceremony. We ask that you assemble at Coles in the main street in full summer uniform. The march commences at 9:45am and the wreath laying is at 10:05am on Tuesday 25th April. I will be there to greet you and support supervision during the march and ceremony.
Tuning In To Kids: Emotionally Intelligent Parenting: Parents who may be interested, are invited to a six session parenting program for parents of school aged children being held at school next term. Please see the invitation below in the Student Wellbeing section. If you are able to commit to all sessions and would like to attend please contact: Marnie Hallam mhallam@staroceangrove.catholic.edu.au Many thanks to Marnie Hallam and Paul Anderson for facilitating these sessions.

PRIME drinks: Please be aware that these drinks are not an option to bring to school. They are beginning to appear with students but as part of our health policy and school rules they are not to be brought to school. Thank you for your understanding.
Time in lieu for camps 2023: As per my email last week, a reminder Term 2 starts back, for Year Prep-2 and any students who are unable to be supervised in Year 3-6, on Monday 24 April. If your child is in Year 3-6 and requiring access to school please email your classroom teacher and we will accommodate with supervision onsite for this day.
We wish Year 3 all the best next week on their first camp to the YMCA in Anglesea.
Finally, wishing you all a happy and Holy Easter and safe holiday break. We hope you will have the time to enjoy the special moments with family and friends and look forward to you all feeling refreshed and ready for Term 2.
