PRAYER OF GRATITUDE FOR CREATION:
God of the universe,
We thank You for Your many good gifts -
For the beauty of Creation and its rich and varied fruits,
For clean water and fresh air, for food and shelter, animals and plants.
Forgive us for the times we have taken the earth's resources for granted
And wasted what You have given us.
Transform our hearts and minds
So that we would learn to care and share,
To touch the earth with gentleness and with love,
Respecting all living things.
We pray for all those who suffer as a result of our waste, greed and indifference,
And we pray that the day would come when everyone has enough
food and clean water.
Help us to respect the rights of all people and all species
And help us to willingly share your gifts
Today and always. Amen.
— Fiona Murdoch, Eco-Congregation Ireland

A reminder about school uniform and what is stated in our uniform policy. Click the following link to view our Uniform Policy All staff are monitoring student’s uniform at present and giving reminders particularly in relation to black leather traditional school shoes or boots and plain grey or white socks to be worn with school uniform and plain white socks to be worn with sports uniform. Please reinforce this at home.
Lastly, we are looking forward to our Beginning of Year celebration with Earth Fest this Friday from 4pm-8.30pm. If you would like to collect your children before 3.30pm to get them organised for the 4pm start that is optional.Even though staff will be in attendance, this is a public event so as a parent, you are responsible for your child's wellbeing and safety for the night. Please make sure your children know where your family base is for the night. There will be a 'lost child' area for the event at the main entry (The Avenue Gate- yellow cover), let your child/children know this is where they should go if they are lost.
Warm wishes for the week ahead

Welcoming and Commissioning Mass
The Welcome and Commissioning Mass will take part on Sunday 3 March, at the 9am Parish Mass. We invite all Prep families and those families new to our school, to attend on the day and be introduced to the Parish. This year, we also will be celebrating the commissioning of school staff, School Education Board and members of the Parents and Friends Association.
Hospitality will be offered after Mass.
How children's emotions develop and change.
Children change in many ways during their primary school years. As well as growing physically, children develop socially, emotionally and cognitively.
Children's responses to the different feelings they experience every day have a major impact on their choices, their behaviour, and how well they cope and enjoy life. Emotional development involves learning what feelings and emotions are, understanding how and why they happen, recognising one’s own feelings and those of others, and developing effective ways of managing them. As children grow and are exposed to different situations their emotional lives also become more complex. Developing skills for managing a range of emotions is therefore very important for their emotional wellbeing.
Parents and carers have an important role to play in supporting children's emotional development. They do this through responding effectively to children's emotions, through providing examples of how they manage feelings, and through talking with children about feelings and how to manage them. In similar ways, our school staff at Our Lady Star of the Sea provide important support for children's emotional development.
