Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy;
Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
(Prayer of St Francis of Assisi)
Dear Parents and Carers
The prayer today is the St Francis of Assisi prayer. The words are particularly relevant during this time. We pray that we can all continue to play our part for the greater good and see our role as instruments of peace, hope, love, light and joy for others. All the while keeping faith, hope and love close to our hearts.
It is pleasing to feel a greater sense of hope each day with a reduction in COVID 19 cases and inching closer to the possibility of relaxing some of the regulations. You will be aware of the announcement today that it looks likely we will return to school in Term 4. Naturally we are looking forward to the return of all our students onsite as soon as possible.
As always is our message, please reach out if you are needing support in any way. We are here to support the health and well being of all in our community.

An update on Bulbula
Most of you will know that we support a community in Bulbula, Ethiopia, through our Mission Fete each year. Just as we are being affected by Covid 19, sadly, so too are this community. Please read Sr Abeba's message and remember them in your prayers. We thank Ms Marianne for reaching out to Sr Abeba to let her know they are in our thoughts and prayers.
Indonesian Day: What a wonderful response by students and families to the Indonesian activities shared on Friday. It was really heartwarming to see the photos that came back in from families and a really great celebration of engagement, connectedness and learning in our community.
New Build: We can officially announce Magellan Projects as our new builders. Contracts have been signed and they have commenced yesterday with beginning to set up the site. Below are some of the latest 3 D drawings.

We are completing online modules and having practical assessments in pairs as per the Covid regulations.
A call to prayer for all:
Light in the darkness: Taking time out for a suffering world (Monday 31 August)
On the eve of spring, the Victorian Council of Churches invites all Christians to unite in prayer for our world. As the last light of the last day of winter fades on Monday 31 August, all are encouraged to stand in their front garden, spend some time in silence and light a candle to remember all those who have lost their lives to the Coronavirus or to violence this year.
We wish you a wonderful fortnight ahead where you can enjoy the change of season as we enter Spring and a season of hope, new life and warmer weather.
Stay well.
Kerryn
As we transition from winter to spring we are aware of the importance of appropriate sun protection measures to minimise skin and eye damage and the risk of skin cancer.
Students who are currently attending school for Onsite Learning will need to start wearing their school hats for outdoor activities (including recess and lunch) from next Monday, August 31st. This will apply to all students when they return as restrictions are eased.
As the weather warms up and the UV radiation levels increase parents and carers are asked ensure that their child has their own SPF 30 plus or higher broadspectrum, water resistant sunscreen. In the absence of a student providing their own SPF 30 plus or higher broadspectrum, water resistant sunscreen, staff members will offer a school purchase product to the student. Sunscreen should be applied at least 20 minutes (where possible) before going outdoors and reapplied every two hours or more frequently if sweating or swimming.
Strategies are in place at Our Lady Star of the Sea to remind students to apply sunscreen before going outdoors.
More information on Sunsmart or UV ratings can be found at: http://www.sunsmart.com.au/.
