I am a gift :
“You can have flaws, be anxious and even be angry, but don’t forget that your life is the greatest business in the world. Only you can stop it from failure. You are appreciated, admired and loved by many. Remember that being happy is not having a sky without storms, a road without accidents, a job without effort, relationships without disappointments.
“Being happy is to stop feeling a victim and become the author of your own destiny. It's going through deserts, but being able to find an oasis deep in your soul. It's to thank God every morning for the miracle of life. It’s kissing your children, cuddling your parents, having poetic moments with your friends, even when they hurt us.
“To be happy is to let live the creature that lives in each of us, free, joyful and simple. It's having maturity to be able to say: "I made mistakes". Having the courage to say "I'm sorry". It's having a sensitivity to say "I need you". Is having the ability to say "I love you". May your life become a garden of opportunities for happiness... that in spring I can be a lover of joy and in winter a lover of wisdom.
"And when you make a mistake, start over. Because only then will you fall in love with life. You will find that being happy doesn't mean having a perfect life. But she uses tears to irrigate tolerance. Use your defeats to train your patience.
"Use your mistakes with the serenity of the sculptor. Use pain to tune into pleasure. Use obstacles to open the windows of intelligence. Never give up ... Above all, never give up on the people that love you. Never give up on happiness, because life is an amazing show. ".
POPE FRANCIS
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to week one of our final term for the 2024 school year. I hope you all managed to enjoy some Spring warmth and fun.
This term brings many opportunities and one of them being a focus on Mission. This year , aligning with our grateful hearts theme, we have a focus on “I am a Gift” in our RE and Inquiry. This links well to the Catholic Social Teaching of solidarity. Solidarity meaning, we should commit ourselves wholeheartedly to the good for all, to stand in solidarity with our one human family. The reflection today from Pope Francis, reinforces the strengths of each of us and to embrace the gift of life.
By affirming that "I am a gift", individuals may feel more empowered to stand up against injustice. It can serve as a reminder that every person's effort and voice matter in the fight for social justice, encouraging active participation in creating positive change. In essence, "I am a gift!" in the context of social justice is a call to recognise one's own value and potential, to appreciate and support the diverse contributions of others, and to actively engage in efforts that promote fairness and equity for all.
This learning will culminate in our lead up to our Mission Fete day which is on Friday 8 November. More details in coming weeks.
Year 5 Camp: Well done to our Year 5 campers who returned from their camp today and were exemplary in all aspects of the camp, as they enjoyed the Melbourne experience. With a grateful heart for all the staff and parent volunteers who attended this camp also.
Principal for the Day: Congratulations and thank you to Jack Sheather who was our Principal for the Day last term. Jack you did a great job and we are proud of you. Thank you also to his trusted deputies Billy Chapman and Stella Duffield.
MACSSIS Surveys: Many thanks to our 110 families who completed the surveys last term. We will share results when they come through later this term and also use this data to support decisions around our actions moving forward.
2025 St Ignatius College Captain: Congratulations to Bel Gee, past student and older sister to Bas Gee in Year 6, who has just been named as St Ignatius College captain for 2025. What an achievement. All the best to you Bel as you take on this very significant leadership position. What an achievement!
New shade sails: We are excited to have new shade sails installed over the break! These shade sails provide much needed relief from the sun making our outdoor spaces more comfortable and safe for the students.
Wishing you all a great start to the term.
