Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of this new semester. As we begin this journey, we ask for Your guidance and blessings on each one of us. Help us to embrace the opportunities ahead with enthusiasm and commitment.
Lord, bless our teachers, who dedicate their time and talents to educate and inspire us. Grant them patience, wisdom, and strength as they guide us in our learning and personal growth.
Bless our classmates and friends. May we support and encourage one another, fostering a spirit of unity and friendship. Help us to be kind, respectful, and understanding, reflecting Your love in all our interactions.
We pray for our families, who support us with their love and care. May they continue to be a source of strength and encouragement as we strive to do our best.
Lord, give us the perseverance to overcome challenges and the humility to seek help when needed. May we grow in knowledge, faith, and virtue throughout this semester.
Guide us in Your ways and help us to shine Your light in all that we do.
Amen.
Dear Parents and Carers
I trust you had a lovely mid-year break and managed to recharge your batteries.
Together, we look forward to the term ahead and the many learning opportunities and experiences Term 3 brings for our wonderful students.
You may recall the communication in a previous newsletter, Fr Darien Sticklen was leaving us as Parish Priest. His last day in the Parish was Sunday 14 July. We will be able to farewell Fr Darien more formally when he returns for the First Eucharist celebrations in August.
It has now been announced REVEREND FATHER LINH PHAM has been appointed as the next Parish Priest for our parish.
Rev. Fr Linh Pham will begin his appointment here on 6th November this year.
Fr Linh is currently Parish Priest and Moderator of the combined Mission of the parishes of St Ambrose – Brunswick, Our Lady Help of Christians – East Brunswick, St Fidelis – Moreland, and St Joseph’s – Brunswick West. Below is an article from late 2020, telling part of Fr Linh’s story. We look forward to welcome Fr Linh to our parish in November.
Please see an article below sharing some of Fr Linh Pham’s story from an article published in 2020.
Principal For the Day: Many thanks to our Principal for the Day Sam Perkins. What a fabulous and confident Principal you were achieving many tasks on the list for the day including Assembly message, teaching Year 3, cooking sausages, handing out Gotcha Awards and supervising yard works.
Camps: Today our Year 4 students headed off to Camp Wilkin in Anglesea for an overnight camp. We wish them a safe and joyful time.
We are proud of the Camp Program we are able to offer our Year 3, 4 , 5 and 6 students. We thank parents for supporting this.
Sending primary school-aged children to camp offers numerous benefits:
- Social Skills and Friendships: Making new friends and learning teamwork.
- Independence and Responsibility: Developing self-reliance and taking on responsibilities.
- Physical Activity and Health: Promoting exercise and outdoor activities.
- Skills Development: Trying new activities and solving problems.
- Emotional Growth: Building resilience and self-esteem.
- Educational Benefits: Learning outside the classroom with hands-on experiences.
- Disconnect from Technology: Reducing screen time and encouraging real-life interactions.
- Fun and Relaxation: Enjoying a break from routine and reducing stress.
Overall, camp experiences can play a significant role in the holistic development of primary school-aged children, offering them a supportive environment to grow, learn, and thrive. With grateful hearts for the teachers and parent volunteers who attend camp and enable this opportunity for our students, along with all parents and carers.
NAPLAN 2024 Results: Year 3 and Year 5 students will be coming home with the individual Naplan results in an envelope in their bag. You can also access these results on PAM. To assist parents and carers in understanding NAPLAN reporting, an information brochure for parents and carers is now available for download from the VCAA website. This brochure is available in multiple languages.
Friday 2nd August: Green & Gold Day for the Olympics and the Walkathon for Opening the Doors Foundation fundraiser. Gold coin donation.
Wishing you all a wonderful and enthusiastic start to Term 3.
