Let your light shine in us and through us as we journey towards the holidays, Christmas and new beginnings.
We make this prayer through Jesus, our Light.
Amen.
Dear Parents and Carers
As we conclude another busy and exciting year at Our Lady Star of the Sea, I wish to offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks to staff and families for the way we have worked alongside each other in partnership, to support our students to learn, grow and flourish. From myself and the staff, it is truly a pleasure and privilege to serve you all on this learning journey.
We had a wonderful assembly Friday farewelling the amazing Miss Alison (Alison Healy). 13 years with us and 36 years in Catholic Education. A brilliant career and one that all of us benefited from over the last 13 years at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Alison's passion, care, kindness, love of learning, quality teaching, support to so many students and staff, cannot be fully measured. We expressed our respect, love and gratitude in a beautiful ceremony led by Red Hub 1, Miss Lisa and some Year 6 students. We wish Alison all the very best in semi retirement. Fortunately, Alison will continue to support as a replacement teacher so not going too far away but will be greatly missed as a classroom teacher.
“Beacons of Hope” Christmas Actions: We have had a wonderful time spreading Christmas cheer over the last couple of weeks. Visiting and singing in the elderly homes, the choir at Carols in the Park led by Miss Bella.
Using money from our Mission Fete fundraiser and some generous donations, our Year Five students were able to budget for, prepare a shopping list and go shopping at Woolworths, to create 28 Christmas hampers. Many thanks to Miss Marianne and the Year 5 students and staff on this meaningful and consciously compassionate act for others.
Our Year Four students also have written Christmas cards and letters, which were distributed to the church, and gratefully received by the the parishioners at Sunday Mass. Some may even write back creating a further parish/ school link.
All these gestures further highlight the importance of our students taking action and making a difference to those in need- true Beacons of Hope.
Year 6 Graduates and Families Leaving: We include in our prayers those students who graduated today from Our Lady Star of the Sea. We trust they are well prepared for the next stage of their school life as confident young people ready to further succeed. We thank each of you for the many positive contributions you have made during your time at Our Lady star of the Sea. We also trust you take with you a love of learning, curiosity, respect, kindness, gratitude and conscious compassion.
