Dear Parents and Carers
Last weekend,World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly was celebrated. Pope Francis asks us all together to offer a prayer honouring our dear Grandparents and the Elderly:
We pray for the elderly, who represent the roots and memory of a people; may their experience and wisdom help young people to look towards the future with hope and responsibility.
Our Year Prep-6 classes are engaging in a History theme for our Inquiry Learning this term with many exciting learning opportunities both onsite and offsite. A “Big Bang Day” for our Year Prep and Year One students saw many grandparents come in and enjoy some time with their grandchildren. It was a wonderful event which showed love, community spirit, respectful relationships and pure joy in action. Many grandparents brought in historical items and treasures to share with students and there was also opportunities to engage in play and other learning tasks. This was a phenomenal event and certainly warmed our hearts. Year Prep will be having their grandparents visit in October. Due to the size of our school we cannot invite all grandparents in on the one day however are discussing ways we may be able to rethink this moving forward. Family Canvases: Great job to all our families for the work you have done on your family portrait canvases. They look amazing! If you get a chance please feel free to come in and have a look but here are a couple of photos below. Thank you also to all involved in mounting them on the wall including Dave Skahill, Kylene Gray and Rebecca Nancarrow. This was a huge task but looks great.
COVID Message: Thank you for your respect regarding mask wearing within our school community when indoors. As you are aware we have been asked to strongly encourage that students aged eight and over and all staff to wear masks in class. We have limited supply at school and can provide these to your children daily or better still your child brings in a reusable material mask. This is not mandated and if you do not want your child to wear a mask please email your classroom teacher and copy Kerryn in. Parents and visitors are also being asked to wear a mask indoors.
When combined with our existing COVIDSafe measures, which include air purifiers, improved ventilation and hand hygiene, this action will help make sure as many students and staff as possible are protected from COVID-19 and other winter illnesses.
As this wave continues we are also being asked to complete thorough risk assessments around any events moving forward. Please know that in all decisions we will be practical and sensible but do what we can to continue the wonderful plans we have for the student’s learning in a COVID safe way.
Technology - SAVE THE DATE!
Technology is an integral part of students' lives and their learning.
To provide you with guidance and expertise in this area we have a Parent Information Night on Tuesday 13th September 7 pm-8.30 pm presented by Leigh Bartlett. This session will be focusing on how the online world intersects with families and the strategies for conversations about digital footprints and how to support young students as they begin to explore the online worlds. We invite you all to attend. This will be held in Djila Tjarri at no cost to you.
40 Years Celebration day:
Trivia Night: Many thanks to all who supported the Trivia Night. It certainly was a wonderful night together with lots of laughs. A huge thank you to Hayley Bennett and the PFA for organising. Hayley is truly amazing in bringing this event to our community. We also thank the sponsors below. $6,792.50 was raised and will go towards our new bike shelters which should be completed in Term 4.
Policies and Procedures Update: It is an ongoing process where we update and review policies. Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACS) has also introduced some new policies and made adaptations to others. . For your information, here are some of the policies we have recently adopted and updated and added to the website.

SeeSaw Update: As per the email you have received please do one of the following.
- Update your current Seesaw app if it requires an update - it will update to the new app and you should be able to log back in and see your child's Seesaw Journal
- Delete the SeeSaw Family app and simple download the new Seesaw app
