Religious Education
This week we celebrate National Families Week. We will do this at school through prayer and a range of activities. The aim of the Week is to celebrate the vital role that families play in Australian society. It is easy to get involved in National Families Week. You can visit the website or take some time together to participate in any of the following;
- Write a story or script around a family event - using a day in the life of … parent, carer, grandparent, aunt, uncle, baby, teen, family friend, as inspiration
- Design games that family members of different ages can participate in (a deck of cards can provide a range of possibilities matched to ability)
- Create a digital book (photo or other) on family or community
- Write a review of a book, film, TV show shared with family
- Create a healthy nutritional menu plan for the week
- Create a physical exercise and wellbeing timetable for your family - explore ways to build strength, stretch and be mindful
- Cook together - include measuring, mixing, following procedures, observing change, producing a result
Our Lady Star of the Sea is almost 40 Years Old!
As part of our community celebration, there are some activities organised for later in the year. However, as a way to tie in with our celebration of National Families Week, we are inviting each family to decorate a canvas for permanent display in the school. It will be a special way to spend time together over the next couple of weeks and commemorate those here in 2022!
The canvas’ will be supplied by the school and sent home with the eldest child this week. Each canvas can be decorated using a range of materials such as any craft paint, sharpie coloured pens or permanent markers.
We ask that your family name is prominently displayed along with other images or colours that represent your family. Could they please be returned at your earliest convenience or by the end of May. See below for inspiration!
