From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to Term 4 Week 9. I hope you are all travelling well. It is hard to believe this will be our second last newsletter for the year. Ironically it has felt a long year however has gone quickly.
It is all happening and at a great pace. It is therefore important to take time and to be still as well, which is the theme of Advent as indicated in this week’s prayer. The first candle on the Advent wreath is the candle of Hope.
School Concert:
We hope you enjoy the viewing tonight of our annual school concert via the link below. May this be a special time for your family. Many thanks to Helen Stephenson and her son Finn for organising this event and the theme Our Christmas Gift. Congratulations to the teachers and students for their wonderful performances. We collectively feel so proud and blessed.
Thank you:
I thank the parents who have been in leadership roles for the 2020 school year. Parents who are committed members of the School Education Board and the Parents and Friends Association are wonderful in giving of their expertise and time. Briony Darcy, as Chairperson of the School Education board this year, has been instrumental in supporting the challenging times and the new build. I thank the Board for supporting a clear direction and great consultation processes. Click here to read Briony’s wonderful annual Chairperson’s Report which captures a very different year. Alison Healy will be leaving the Board as our teacher representative and we thank her for insight and wisdom over the last few years. We are grateful all other Board members will remain for 2021.
Parents and Friends Association sees us farewelling Alannah Mills, Jen Bermingham and Kerry Britt. They have been drivers of so many wonderful events including the Drive In and Easter Egg raffle .
A special mention to Travis Sampson who has coordinated the mowing roster for five years now and is stepping back from this role. He has gone over and above in being committed to this role and we are truly grateful for his voluntary work.
COVID Update: We are pleased to have some of the restrictions lifted whereby we can have assemblies outside again as a whole school without visitors and our drink taps have reopened. However there are still strict protocols in place for social distancing, sanitising and cleaning. We also need to continue to manage very carefully the number of visitors onsite. We will continue to communicate should there be further restrictions lifted. For the remainder of 2020 we will continue to stay with our current drop off and pick up procedures. Hopefully in 2021 we can have some more changes.
Student Reporting Requirements: Requirements for student reports for Semester 2 are adjusted in recognition of the disruptions caused by the transition to remote and flexible learning during Semester 2. Teachers are currently finalising reports which will be sent out to you on Tuesday 8 December. Upon receipt of your child’s report you are welcome to make contact with your child’s classroom teacher if you are wishing to do so. Class lists are being finalised with an orientation time to new classes for 2020 happening on Tuesday 8 December.
International Day of disability December 3: Across the school our teachers are taking a moment to acknowledge and celebrate International Day of People with Disability on 3 December. The day provides a great opportunity to highlight that everyone has a place in our community and something to offer. The offer may be different, but that is a good thing, it celebrates our individuality and diversity. The students will be participating in a Circle Time and other activities within their classes.
Wishing you a fortnight of hope and optimism as we draw to the end of another school year.
