FROM THE UPDATED GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ALL AREAS NOT UNDER STAGE 3 RESTRICTIONS:

As of 11.59pm 08 July 2020, the following directives are given for places of worship, ceremonies and Prayer Groups:

It is important to note that:

• serious caution and precautionary measures are recommended for all areas of Victoria at this time.

• what is made available will be at the discretion of the Parish Priest or Administrator who will best be able to determine the capabilities of each individual Parish to meet the required conditions and pastoral needs of their people.

In consultation with members of our Parish Pastoral Council and leaders from our 3 Mass centres, and given advice received today that there are active cases of COVID-19 infection in Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and Belmont, it is with regret that we have decided not to proceed with re-starting our Saturday Vigil Mass at Holy Family Barwon Heads this weekend.

This is a difficult decision to make, but in doing this we are exercising the ‘serious caution’ mentioned above.

We have been asked by Archbishop Peter to maintain livestreaming of Mass. ‘This has been an important point of contact and spiritual resource for people, and will continue to assist the housebound, vulnerable and those who do not feel comfortable in returning to public spaces at the current time.’
