Smart Watches
We have noticed a sharp increase this year in the number of students who are wearing smart watches or internet enabled watches to school. Specifically these are watches that are able to make and receive phone calls and send and receive text messages.
It has been decided that these watches need to fall under the same school policy as mobile phones in that students will not be permitted to have the watch on their person during school hours, 9am - 3:30pm.
Students who wish to wear their watches are free to do so to and from school, however they will need to be dropped at the office before class time commences and then collected after the 3:30 bell at the end of the day. As per our standard communication procedures, parents who need to contact their children whilst at school can call the office to leave messages and any student wishing to contact home can see the office staff to help make this call.
If a student requires such a device for medical or other documented reasons, this would be an exception. Please speak with your child's classroom teacher and email the Principal with this information..
