National eSmart Week - National Child Protection Week

eSmart, in conjunction with National Child Protection Week, promotes the smart, safe and responsible use of digital technology. It aims to create awareness, solutions and ideas on issues of cyber safety, bullying and wellbeing online and offline.

At Our Lady Star of the Sea School we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. Our commitment is drawn from and inherent in the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the sanctity of each human person at the heart of the gospel.

As a school community, like the wider society, the wellbeing of our children is challenged by irresponsible use of digital technologies.  In recent weeks we have worked with some of our students who unfortunately have been thoughtless online and impacted the safety and wellbeing of others. 

At school our students are taught the importance of being responsible cyber citizens and the importance of smart and safe use of digital technologies. To help support families with ideas on how to help their children manage screen time and be responsible online, I have included Screen time for your child – 7 tips, from the eSafety Commissioner. Also attached is the school Email and Internet Policy and the Cyber Safety Policy
