JUNIOR LORD MAYOR OF MELBOURNE COMPETITION

Scarlett Sadler was chosen as one of seven finalists to travel to the Melbourne Town Hall on Wednesday 21 August. Scarlett was interviewed as part of her nomination and required to speak about personal ideas relating to our wonderful capital city of Melbourne. Although not winning the major honour, Scarlett represented our school with confidence and distinction.

As a result 45 of her classmates have been invited to share in the festivities to honour and celebrate Melbourne’s 184th Anniversary at Enterprize Park Southbank on Friday 30th August.

On Wednesday l went to the Melbourne Town Hall because l was selected as one of six finalists to become Junior Lord Mayor of Melbourne.  There were six judges including the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp.  She asked me the first question about what l was so passionate about.  I said l was passionate about the environment and that we could do something about the recycling crisis that is affecting our country.  And in my application l said there should be more street lights on bike paths. At first l felt very nervous and when l stood up l felt even more nervous but when it was over l calmed down and l felt better.  I learnt a lot from this experience and it helped me build my confidence levels.  

Unfortunately l wasn't selected as the Junior Lord Mayor but Sophie, who was selected really deserved the role and l was happy for her. By Scarlett Sadler
