From the Principal
Dear Parents,
As we move into the second half of Term 2 and the chillier weather, there is much wonderful news to celebrate and positive opportunities happening within our learning community.
Reports: This year, for the first time, we are sending reports home electronically. Therefore, we ask that you sign up to our Parent Access Module (PAM). Click here to view the letter and steps to signing up. We ask that you create your account now and we will send another reminder to login to view your child’s report from June 14. Please also ensure you have made a time for the student led conversations in Week 9 via Care Monkey.

A very big thank you to Bishop Mark Edwards, Fr Darien, Lib MacPherson, our Religious Education Leader, and all the Year 6 teachers for their preparation of the students and the beautiful celebration. Bishop Edwards words rang true and caused great reflection with students, parents, families and teachers. He spoke of the Sacrament of Confirmation where we receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. What do we do with these Gifts? What is our Vocation and Mission in carrying on the work of Jesus? In moving ahead in our everyday lives we are called to service. Who will we reach out to, dedicate a part of our lives to? Rather than looking inwardly, fulfilment and true happiness comes from what we can do in our lives that is making a positive difference for others. Just as Jesus called us to do when he left earth and ascended into heaven. How can we continue his mission in our lives? As parents, we can support our children throughout their lives to reflect and take action in this way.
Capital works Grant:
It is with much excitement we can confirm that we can go ahead with reviewing and finalising our Stage 1 Masterplan. The pledge of funding by the State government of 2 million dollars has been confirmed. The Masterplan at this point includes a Multi purpose building and 3 general classroom areas. Please click here to read the confirmation letter and click here to view the current proposed Masterplan which we are reviewing, particularly in light of our current and forecasted enrolment figures.
Apologies also for the entrance to the school at the back gate via the Shell Rd oval side. We are setting to work very shortly, with a meeting to finalise details this Tuesday, in order to tidy up this entrance and ensure there will be no more flooding.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data – NCCD
The NCCD process is well underway at Our Lady Star of the Sea in preparation for the early August deadline. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work of our staff, teachers, Learning Support Officers and those in leadership positions who collaborate to provide the best support we can for students with diverse learning needs. I also thank you the parents, for making the time to attend meetings and work in partnership with the school when considering goals and adjustments for learning. It is important to us that all students flourish and it is in this collaborative way our students have the best opportunity. The NCCD is a government regulated process and you can click here to view the NCCD letter for parents which explains in more detail.
Traffic management and travelling safely. Over the past week we have welcomed the rain. With this comes more traffic particularly at the front of the school. We ask that when dropping your children off and picking them up at the end of the day ,you are extra careful and exercise patience. Click here to view our latest Traffic Management Plan particularly focused on the front of the school.
There has also been some discussion regarding car seats in cars and safety for your children. Please read Paul Anderson’s Student Wellbeing article which brings some clarity and helpful information in ensuring we are restraining our children safely when travelling in the car.
Wishing you many blessings for the fortnight ahead.
