From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Amazingly, we find ourselves now in the final week of Term 3. Recently we celebrated our Learning Support Officers as part of the “hidden heroes of our classrooms.”
It was a special time to celebrate our amazing LSO’s, often called teaching assistants or education support staff and office staff. They are the unsung heroes who work alongside our teachers every day to help our children succeed.
So, what do our support staff do? They are the extra set of hands and caring hearts in the classroom. They provide one-on-one help to students who might be struggling with a math problem, or they work with small groups to make sure every child understands the lesson. This personalised attention is a huge help and ensures that no student is left behind.
They also help keep our classrooms running smoothly. By assisting with daily tasks and preparing materials, they give our teachers more time to focus on teaching. Their work is especially important for our children with diverse needs, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every student feels supported and can thrive.
And our office staff are also the unsung heroes of the school, masterfully juggling ringing phones, lost lunchboxes, and the occasional rogue pigeon to name a few. While teachers educate, office staff ensure the whole operation doesn't descend into cheerful chaos. Basically, they're the glue, the map and the occasional first-aid kit.
Please join us in thanking and celebrating our dedicated LSO’s and office staff! A simple thank-you note or a kind word can make a big difference and show them how much we appreciate everything they do for our school community.
Footy Day and Opening Doors Foundation:
As part of our commitment as a Fire Carrier School, we hold a fundraiser each year to support the Opening Doors Foundation, which helps First Nations children across Victoria go to school and do their best. They support students and their families from the start of school all the way to Year 12, making sure every child has the chance to learn and follow their dreams.
This year, we are asking everyone to bring a gold coin donation on our Footy Colours Day this Friday.
Below see what the children are learning about this week in relation to our First Nations people and the origins of AFL with their game Marngrook.
