From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to all the parents for Attending Our Online Session. A big thank you to Kane Sparks from KD solutions for facilitating the discussion and Bree Jones for further supporting the presentation. We hope those in attendance  found the session on safety and fostering open communication with your children about their online lives valuable. Here's a quick recap of the "10 Questions to Ask Your Child" that we discussed, along with why each question matters:

  1. What's your favourite app or game right now?

  • Why it matters: Builds connection and shows interest in what excites them.
  • Can you show me how it works?

    • Why it matters: Invites them to be the expert and helps you understand how they're using it.
  • Have you ever seen something upsetting online?

    • Why it matters: Opens the door for honest discussion and shows they can come to you.
  • Do you get messages from strangers?

    • Why it matters: Helps identify risks and talk about safety boundaries.
  • What do you do if someone's mean online?

    • Why it matters: Encourages empathy and responsible digital use.
  • How do you decide what's okay to share?

    • Why it matters: Sparks a conversation about digital consent and personal boundaries.
  • Do you know how to block/report?

    • Why it matters: Gives you a chance to check that they know how to protect themselves.
  • Have your friends ever overshared?

    • Why it matters: Opens up discussion about peer pressure and online decision-making.
  • What do you think your digital footprint says?

    • Why it matters: Encourages self-reflection on how their online behaviour shapes reputation.
  • Who would you go to if worried?

    • Why it matters: Reinforces help-seeking behaviours and reminds them they're not alone.

We believe that by asking these questions, you can create a safer and more transparent online experience for your children. Thank you again for your engagement and commitment to all parents and staff for the children’s digital well-being. At a school level we are, together with yourselves, committed to reducing screen time and supporting all students on their technology journey. We have things in place to ensure this. Conversations with your children can also link back to the clear actions and messages we provide as a school.

Reports and 3 Way conversations: Friday 20 June  you  will receive reports.  It is incredible to think that we are already at this stage of the year. Please remember before you attend the Student, Parent, Teacher Conversation, talk to your child about their report and look through their reflection through Seesaw or Google Classroom. If you have a question, write it down and have it ready for the conversations. You can access your reports via PAM. A communication will be sent out when they are released.

Excitement Builds for Mural Nomad's Visit beginning June 16.

We're absolutely thrilled to announce that Patrycja Hannagan, also known as Mural Nomad, will be gracing our school with her incredible artistic talent! Patrycja is a passionate muralist renowned for her vibrant colors and captivating landscapes, and we can't wait to see the magic she'll create here.

Having grown up in Italy under muted skies, Patrycja's artistic journey was ignited by her fascination with how light transforms colors. Her move to Australia in 2013 further fueled her love for vibrant pigments, leading her to begin muraling in 2019. For over a decade, teaching, commissions, and personal projects have all contributed to her remarkable skill and passion.

Patrycja deeply believes in the therapeutic power of nature and aims to reignite appreciation for the world's beauty through her vivid representations. Her large installations have been showcased nationwide and on major media outlets, inspiring travel and revitalizing remote towns into compelling tourist attractions. A part of the Australian Silo Art Trail, PJ was also a nominated finalist in the Australian Street Art Awards in 2023.

What makes this even more special is that our own students have been contributing to the artwork with their beautiful wildlife and flora and fauna sketches. We're so excited as a whole school community to watch these creative skills unfold and ultimately add life to our space over the coming week to fortnight. Get ready to be inspired!

Re: Solar Water Pump for top shed tank.  Exciting News

We have some fantastic news to share with our school community! We've been successful in our application for a Barwon Water school grant!

We've been awarded $2,500 to install a solar-powered pump at the top shed tank. This project will bring great benefits to our school, and we're incredibly grateful to Barwon Water for their support. Many thanks to Kellie Clark, they recognised our proposal's potential for widespread community benefit, as well as its clear justification and achievable goals.

This funding will allow us to implement a sustainable solution for our water needs, and we can't wait to see the solar pump in action. We'll be sure to share updates on the project's progress as it unfolds.

    Year 3 Reconciliation:

Congratulations to our Year 3 students who celebrated their Reconciliation last week. Many thanks to Fr Linh, Jcinta Ryan, Bella Scffidi, Christine Lourie and Miranda Kelly for the brilliant preparation and spiritual and reverent celebration.
