From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Last week we celebrated Teacher Aide Appreciation Week and acknowledged our Learning Support Officers in various ways. This week’s prayer is dedicated to our LSO’s. We recognised the incredible work of our LSO’s. These dedicated individuals play a vital role in our children's education, offering invaluable support to both students and teachers every day. Their patience, care, and hard work help create an environment where every student can thrive. From lending a helping hand in the classroom to providing extra encouragement to those who need it most, their efforts make a world of difference. Our Lady Star of the Sea commits to have in place what is going to best support each individual to flourish which includes having our LSO’s as a valued member of each hub. We are deeply grateful for their contributions and the positive impact they have on our school community. I am sure you join us in expressing our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
National Child Protection and R U OK Day Thursday 12 September: Last week was also Child Protection week. Child Protection Week is a national campaign held each year to raise awareness of child abuse prevention in our communities. In 2024, the overarching message, "Every child in every community needs a fair go," was complemented by the theme, "Every conversation matters."
Conversations are powerful tools in our school for keeping children and young people safe and well. These dialogues help us understand issues, craft solutions, value community knowledge, and build children's understanding and social connections. Continuing on from this theme of “Every Conversation Matters” we will be recognising R U OK? day this Thursday. It’s a little question that can have a big impact and as we know, can be the start of a conversation that may change a life, or simply three spoken words that show you care. This important annual initiative reminds us, across all levels of our learning community, that it’s vital we keep an eye out for each other.
As a school community with our students, we will be celebrating the day via a Circle Time and educating our children to be aware of the network of people around them. This will reinforce and help them understand the importance of “Every Conversation Matters” including asking the question R U OK and being a kind person by this simple action. As a staff we will also be checking in and showing signs of gratitude between staff.

Father’s Night:
What an amazing turmnout we had for our Father's and Significant other's night. Wonderful to see the love and joy on the faces of our students and their special male adult in their lives. Many thanks to mums and carers for cooking the yummy sausages. Another night of such great community spirit.
Prime Minister's Spelling Bee: Congratulations to the following Year level champions in this competition. Jasper Lindsay (Year 6), Max Frazer (Year 5), Jack McLeish (Year 5) and Zoe Frazer (Year 3). Special mention to Ollie Mullen (Year 4) who had the most correct.
Thank you Year 3 and Year 6 Camp: What fabulous students we took on camp. A credit to all you parents and carers and many thanks to the volunteers. It was wonderful to be part of this great experience with your respectful and grateful children.
With a grateful heart for our entire learning community, on the back of another joyous term with you and your children. I wish you all a wonderful upcoming Spring break.
