From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to Term 2. I trust you had a wonderful holiday period with your children.
We have had some wonderful Easter celebrations at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church over the last week and, today at school, our students have also engaged in the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus.
During the holidays, work has begun on the new unisex amenities block located in the passive play area which includes four cubicles. We look forward to having these extra amenities for students in Passive Play to access, Preps in Green Hub as required during learning time and members of the school community, particularly when we have gatherings at the front of the school. Work is due to be completed in June.
A reminder that you have two weeks to transition over to winter uniform. In the meantime until the end of April, we will still have our SunSmart practices in place as per our SunSmart Policy 2019.pdf Students are encouraged to bring their own sunscreen and reapply. As per the policy, staff are to remind students to reapply. You will also notice in our updated policy that the time period to ensure Sunsmart practices are implemented has extended from the middle of August to the end of April.
As shared last term, the newsletter is now fortnightly in odd weeks. The newsletter is our main form of communication and we are endeavouring to include everything you need to know for the fortnight. Important to note is the Hub news within each newsletter, which gives you more specific details to your child’s hub. A group email will be sent out if required due to something being missed in between newsletters. Hopefully this will be on the rare occasion.
Friday 3 May we are very fortunate to have Berry Street begin their Educational Model training with all our staff. This will be the first of 4 days training over the next 2 years.
The Berry Street Educational Model provides schools with the training, curriculum and strategies to engage all students and support their wellbeing. We look forward to this invaluable learning which will build teacher capacity in all our staff.
Best wishes for the fortnight ahead
Kerryn
