Kid's Safety Club/ Travelsmart News
This week some of the Year 5 children completed surveys about some of the dangerous areas to ride a bike in Ocean Grove. The project is called "Bike Spot" and the local government are trying to identify the most dangerous areas to ride bikes and will then work to fix these areas.
Our Year 5 students identified Shell Road and Shell Road roundabout as two of the most dangerous areas along with the main road out to Oakdene Estate. Some of the problems highlighted included the bicycle lane ending, no bike lane in parts, too much vehicle traffic, traffic speed and aggressive driver behaviour. We are hoping that our participation in this survey will contribute to something being done to fix these dangerous areas in our local community. At this stage it is best and safest to avoid these areas.
Thanks, Travelsmart Group / Kid's Safety Club.
